  2. As a middle school teacher, I know first-hand that it can be tough to find books that interest seventh graders, particularly boys. I have no doubt that even my most reluctant readers will be engaged in this story, as Adrian Fogelin does a great job of making connections with the content that my students find most relevant - skateboarding, navigating friendships, and surviving tough family situations.

  5. There's no question that all kids can relate to the feeling of being an outsider and alone. Just as they can relate to the joy that happens when you find a friend. Simple and profound.

  6. The book showcases the strength of friendship and the importance of standing up to bullies. Today, with recession looming large, kids don't have it easy, they have to deal with their parents losing their jobs, at times they have to deal with loosing the roof over their heads. This book seems like a good read and would inspire many a child struggling with the complex challenges of life.
