Book Review and Giveaway: Hide & Seek by Katy Grant

A summer of catering to tourists in his family's store gives fourteen-yearold Chase the itch for his own mountain adventure. The first chance he gets, he races off on his bike for his first solo geocaching adventure.

With his new GPS and clues from the internet, he uncovers a geocache. The small metal box seems normal at first, with the usual odds and ends inside to take and replace. However, he also finds a troubling note asking for help.

When he returns the next day, he finds another note asking for food. Perplexed and worried, he returns with food and meets two little boys who seem to be camping in the woods with their father. Something about their situation doesn't feel right with Chase and he determines to piece together the puzzle. When he discovers the boys are victims of a family kidnapping, he ventures back into the woods to find them, only to be pulled into his own nightmarish abduction.

Katy Grant masters the adolescent introduction into the adult world through Chase's gradual comprehension of how deep parental love can be. The tense filled adventure will keep young readers glued to their seat through the climatic end of the story. A definite recommended book for the middle grade reader. Caution: Be prepared for the young reader to ask for a GPS and a computer to take up geocaching. Ages 8 and up.

It seems like it has plenty of action and that is what my 12 and 14 year old like to read the most.

Being a real fan of Katy's Summer Camp Series, I couldn't wait to read her new book to see another side of her writing. I LOVED the book, her spirit of real life teen/tween writing carries on to this book. I hope she continues with this series just like her Summer Camp. Her writing is to my kids like Judy Blume was to my generation!
